Protection Against Earthquakes - Hurricanes - High Winds

Average glass which is unprotected can only withstand wind speed velocity of up to 100 mph. Test conducted by Interteck Testing Service of Burnaby B.C., Canada, confirmed this, subjecting glass untreated in a High wind experiment.

Testing was conducted in accordance with ASTM E-330. "Test Method for Structural Performance Of Exterior Window, Curtain Walls, and Doors by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference".

Their report stated that, "The hazard potential from earthquake, Hurricane like force wind is nearly eliminated when a sheet of polyester film averaging from a thickness of 4 mil to 21 mil is bonded to the surface of the window accompanied by The View Guard Frame/Lok Attachment System™. The film adhesive held the fragments of broken glass together, but the View Guard Frame/Lok Attachment System™ was the key player in this test preventing explosive propulsion of dangerous glass fragments into an open air space.

Failure of the glazing occurred at a pressure of 18.75 Kpa (390 psf), which has an equivalent wind velocity of 633 km/hr (396 mph). This is very impressive.
